Success is easier than you think…

Let’s take a success story like The Rock. Our problem is that we tie his good looks, his strength, his acting, his entrepreneurism, his fanbase into one package. We affiliate all these things as “success” and then we think (like I used to),

“He has too many qualities that I don’t, he’s far different than who I am and therefore I can’t do it”

Well, let me break it down into what I believe and to do that I’ll separate all his success into steps so that this post is short and sweet:

  1. Acting
  2. Bodybuilding
  3. Entrepreneur
  4. Huge fanbase
  5. TV show producer
  6. WWE wrestler

Okay, it’s broken up into steps. Here’s the truth:

If we pursued any one of these accomplishments, then we could very much become the next Dwayne Johnson.

Our problem is that for those believing that success is about “luck” or “only for a select few”, those are the ones believing that Dwayne Johnson is one package, a result of a hit or miss in life. They either ignore or fail to see that he’s a culmination of thousands of micro-achievements he’s made in his life.

If we stop believing that society is made up of 1’s and 0’s (successful and non-successful), we’d have more 0.5’s (people who aren’t there yet but believe they have a shot, because they do).

This is why I can’t stress enough how vital it is to fix the small things first. Things like getting 8 hours of sleep at night, starting to eat breakfast, choosing a salad over a burger, studying one hour more, taking the stairs up to your apartment etc. These small tiny steps, if we choose to address them, are ultimately what’ll propel us towards success instead of trying to become the whole package in one go

I’m not successful, I’m a college student, but I can tell you for a fact if you’d ask any person that’s made it, they will tell you that they never shot for 100% first. They tried for 10%, then 20%, then 30% etc.

Take that small step. It doesn’t matter what it is. If you didn’t do it yesterday and it aids you in becoming that whole package, it’s a step regardless.

  1. I so very believe in the power of small steps. I also believe that each one of us have potential to become the best version of ourselves. It’s very inspiring to read such posts and build a community where people support each other ☺️👍
